چکیده

In this paper, we first investigate the power spectral densities (PSD) of bipolar modulated Direct Sequence Ultra Wide Band (DS-UWB) signals using various pulse shapes under the FCC UWB emission mask. Considered pulse shapes are the first five derivatives of the Gauss pulse (p1, p2, p3, p4 and p5), the first four orthogonal modified Hermite waveforms, and Daubechies wavelets (db-q). It is observed in the PSD results that p4 and p5 Gauss pulses, the Daubechies (db-q) for q > 4 comply with the FCC UWB rule by selecting proper values for the pulse duration. Then, we derive the pulse shape dependent probability of error expression for bipolar DS-UWB signals over the standard UWB channel. The five pulse shapes (p4, p5, db-5, db-6 and db-7) complying with the FCC emission mask are numerically compared by using the derived probability of error expression over the CM1 model of the Standard UWB channel. Results reveal that the Daubechies have better performance than those of the two Gauss pulses.

Impact of Timing Jitter on DS-UWB and Hybrid DS-Multiband-UWB Systems with Rake Reception over Multipath Environment

In this paper, the impact of timing jitter in direct sequence ultra wideband (DS-UWB) system is investigated over multipath fading channel. Also, a novel hybrid direct sequence multiband UWB (DS-MBUWB) system is proposed to mitigate the impact of timing jitter. We analyze and compare the system performance for conventional DS-UWB and hybrid DS-MB-UWB with Rake receiver in the presence of timing...

Performance Evaluation of MB-OFDM based UWB System

This paper investigates the Multi-band OFDM (MB-OFDM) based physical (PHY) layer proposal for IEEE 802.15.3a working group on short-range high data-rate Ultra-wide-Band (UWB) communications. An overview of the MB-OFDM PHY layer architecture with its various parameters is presented and the optimal choice of critical parameters is discussed. Next, we derive the theoretical un-coded Bit Error Rate...

Performance Comparison of PPM-TH, PAM-TH, and PAM-DS UWB Rake Receivers with Channel Estimators via Correlation Mask

In this paper, the performance comparison of PPM-TH, PAM-TH, and PAM-DS UWB for a single user link are analyzed for different data rates using the proposed UWB channel model from IEEE 802.15.3a. The Rake receivers with a pulse-matched filter via correlation mask are numerically evaluated with channel estimator algorithm. DS-UWB and TH-UWB with antipodal modulation perform basically the same. Performance of Coherent UWB Rake Receivers using different Channel Estimators

The performance of DS-UWB and TH-UWB for a single-user link is compared for a data rate of 100 Mbps using the newly proposed, realistic UWB channel model from IEEE P802.15. The performance of suboptimal, fractionally spaced (FS), coherent Rake receivers with a pulse matched filter is evaluated with numerical simulations when different channel estimation algorithms, suitable for coherent detecti...

QPSK Impulse Signal Transmission for Ultra Wide Band Communication Systems in Multipath Channel Environments

In this paper, three new ultra wideband (UWB) communication systems with quadrature-phase shift keying (QPSK) impulse modulation are proposed. First, direct-sequence (DS) multiple-access scheme is applied. The second proposed system is based on time-hopping (TH) multiple-access scheme. The last proposed system applies TH multipleaccess scheme with QPSK impulse modulation and pulse position modu...
